Myron Nolte Almony Sr., 89, of Finksburg, formerly of Reisterstown, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at home.

Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Hereford, he was the son of the late Hollis Miller and Mary Meryl Nolte Almony. He was the husband of Helen Clyde Almony, his wife of 69 years.

He had owned a barber shop on Main Street in Reisterstown for 54 years. He also owned Reservoir Realty. He was a charter member of the Reisterstown volunteer fire company.

He enjoyed dining out, visiting with family, thoroughbred racing, trips to the ocean, bluegrass music and a fine cigar.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law Joan and Dr. John Dopson of Finksburg, Sharon Almony and Carl Wolbert of Upperco, and Michelle Hutchins of Chesapeake, Va.; sons Myron Almony Jr. of Upperco and Michael S. Almony of Finksburg; sisters Marguerite Martin of Towson and Nancy Koehler of Baltimore; brother and sisters-in-law Albert and Mary Almony of Lutherville and Carol Almony of Timonium; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by sons Larry and Mark Almony; and a brother, Hollis Almony.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills. Interment will be private.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from noon until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
